Being an e-commerce business owner today, seems difficult to compete with big, already established companies. But if we apply following a list of 10 guidelines which helps us to stay in healthy competitions with others.
#1 Identify the Target Market.
Before we even think about operating a business, we must know our target market. How old are my customers or how young they are? Where are they from? How much will they be willing to spend on a specific product? Keep these questions in mind as we start to build a customer profile and research demographics that are specific to our product or to promoting products & service.
#2 Create A Good Marketing Plan.
Don’t let our products go unnoticed due to poor on-line/off-line advertising. Nowadays, Facebook and Google are the most popular online advertising options. Google AdWords is an online advertising system that offers Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. We may study it and with this service, we can strategically develop specific keywords for our company to target specific audiences/customers and search terms. In such a way we will be allowed to reach at the people who are searching for our products online.
#3 Branding Ourselves
Who are We? What makes us different? Why should customer buy from us versus a company who is already established? These are all questions we should be thinking about when building our e-commerce brand. Define our focus and personality & stick to it in every aspect of our brand so we’ll be easily recognized by all of our potential customers. Also, to build our brand in such a way that customers will develop a loyalty to us and will choose our product over the competitors.
#4 Patience Skill
In order to get the most effective responses from our e-commerce customers, we need to be patience. When developing our website, we don’t rush the process because we only get one chance to make a first impression on potential customers. We should aim that our website to be visually appealing, user-friendly, and easy to find. Therefore, we should make sure the appealing name of our website is relevant to our brand.
#5 Our Social Approach
Without having a physical location, it can be very difficult to keep up with the competitive edge of brick-and-mortar stores who come into direct contact with their customers each day. To combat this challenge, we should aim to personalize our customers’ e-commerce experiences to make them in wish to return to our site. For example, make our customers feel as though they’re being assisted face-to-face. Have a place where they can easily contact an employee if they need help with something. In other words, we should create a good & quick access to our Customer care support.
#6 Mobile Trend.
Customers who shop via mobile device have more than doubled since 2016. In order to stay technologically savvy and keep up with demand, we should offer either a mobile app or a mobile version of our website. This way, it is easy for customers to use and they are able to navigate from their mobile devices – no matter where they are. Easy access for them = more sales for us!
#7 Simplify Our Approach
We want each customer’s experience to go as smoothly as possible while on our site. As people’s attention spans are shortening, we need to make sure the e-commerce purchase process is quick and user-friendly. This will ensure that potential customers will go through with their purchase, as they will be able to mindlessly navigate our pages, all the way through the simple shipping processes.
Under-promise and over-deliver in order to keep our customers satisfied. This means we should forecast demand the best to our ability and try not to stock out. Having products readily available is one of the main advantages of e-commerce, so don’t let this benefit go to waste! Being reliable will also help us develop a loyal clientele who will count on us for all of their product needs. We should also to keep good tract of stock-in & stock-out inventories management in case we have to sell our own products.
#9 Never Give-Up
Even when we do everything right, we’re not going to see profits right away. It can take some time but we should be sure not to get discouraged! This is all part of the learning process and if we continue to persevere and endure all the little bumps in the road, the pay-offs will be well worth it!
#10 Continue to Evolve
Nothing is ever certain. Demand will change from day to day and technology advancements are always on the rise. Keep, up to date with e-commerce, consumer, and technology trends so that we can grow with our business. We should be flexible and make changes as necessary and will control the secrets to scalable online success.
